Recall and the England Factor
After almost a gap of 1 year Suresh Raina has earned a recall into the One Day side as a replacement to Ambati Rayudu, who failed in the Yo-Yo Test and a result was axed from the team. This opportunity has come for Raina with World Cup in less than a year from now and that too in England. Curently, Suresh Raina is in good form and is likely to be slotted directly into the Playing XI without any delay. Also, the series consist of 3 matches only and can be vital for India’s World Cup Preparations.

Taking into account the performance, Raina scored over 250 runs at an average of 92.33 with four consecutive half-centuries, with two of them coming in winning cause when India last toured England in 2012-13. He also completed his 4000 runs in that same series. So, far Raina has scored 5568 runs in 223 matches at an average of 35.46 and at a strike rate of 93.77, with highest of 116 including 5 centuries and 36 half-centuries. His ability to bowl off-spin is a big advantage for India and can fill the 6th bowler void Indian Team and his inclusion also provides Virat with an opportunity to play MS.Dhoni at no.4 with Raina & Dinesh Karthik at 5, 6 respectively. Raina has taken around 36 wickets with a best of 3 for 34.
So, it is a win-win situation for India but loss of Rayudu can hurt the team in the long run.
