CSK’s Likely Playing XI for Away matches
Ms.Dhoni led Chennai Super King will be playing it’s first IPL encounter after a 2 year ban. It will be the first match of the tournament that is too, up against their arch-rivals and 2017 IPL winners Mumbai Indians, in Mumbai. CSK has retained it’s most of the core but still they lack some fire-power in terms of pace bowling, which might come as a problem in later stages of the tournament. The Chennai based franchise have a good set of top, middle and lower order players along with handy All-Rounders.

Talking about the opening slots they are likely to be taken up by Shane Watson and Faf Du Plessis for Away games. Watson is currently in top form and his performance in on-going PSL (Pakistan Super League) and recently concluded BBL (Big Bash League) has been amazing. Du Plessis meanwhile is struggling with injuries but has performed well against India in the recently concluded series and is the front runner for the spot.
Middle-order is some what where CSK will need to think. Suresh Raina is confirmed to take no.3 slot with no.4 slot to be allocated to Dhoni and no.5 for Rayudu and finishers role is expected to be given to Jadhav and Bravo i.e. no.6 & no.7 and Jadeja is to be slotted in at no.8. Currently all the players are in top form except Rayudu who is struggling a bit due to both his behaviour and form but it is expected that he will bounce back hard and Jadhav is facing some injury issues but is expected to be fit. With no.9 to be taken up by legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh, his capability to hit down the order is a great addition to CSK. Shardul and Mark Wood will be the two pacers for the side, Mark Wood is currently on precautionary rest due to fear of a ankle injury.
This eleven is a good blend of both youth and experienced and moreover Jadhav and Raina can bowl some overs if the team requires but taking into account all the constraints the team have enough resources, they have a good duo of spinners, two good bowlers and two highly experienced all-rounders who can turn the game in CSK’s favour whenever they want.
