Ind vs SA, 1st ODI: Preview
After a not so impressive 3-Test Series, India will take on South Africa in a 6- match ODI series, starting Feb 1. It will not be a huge task for the Indian ODI setup to win a series, as almost half of the players who are part of ODI squad have been in the rainbow nation from a month and it will give a huge boost for the team. But beating South Africa is a bit challenging in their own backyard, focusing on the current form and stats the No.1 ranked South African side has struggled a bit against quality teams in past years and moreover injuries and Kolpak deals have affected them very badly. On the other hand, India looks more settled with a good pace attack and a balanced middle order but still there are some flaws that need to be addressed and one of them is the un-availability of back-up bowlers for Bumrah and Bhuvi, though Shardul and Shami are good bowlers but it is yet to be seen how they will command the attack in absence of the frontline pacers or how they will assist them.
Pitch and Ground Conditions:
The match will be played at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead, Durban and it will be a Day/Night affair due to some extreme weather conditions of the area. The pitch here is always pacer friendly, this ground also witnessed the gigantic 6-sixes from Yuvraj in 2007 World T-20. But the last match played here, was a high-scoring game in which South Africa posted 300 plus and Srilanka failed to chase that. Still it is reckoned as a pacer friendly surface.
