CSK Squad: Auction Day 1 Review

img_0978

CSK started the Day on a very good note by picking up the veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh for his base price of 2 Crore and then went on to use RTM for Dwayne Bravo and Du Plessis which cost them 6.4 and 1.6 a piece. Later they bought Kedar Jadhav for a whooping price of 7.8 Crore and took services of Shane Watson the in-form Aussie All-rounder for 4 Crore. But the actual twist came when Ambati Rayudu was bought for 2.2 Crore by CSK, taking a closer look the young batsman from Hyderabad has shown what he is capable of and what can he be for the team in any situation but has been in news for wrong reasons and some of them are disciplinary and behavior issues.

Further they went on to buy Imran Tahir for 1 Crore and surprisingly they bought Karn Sharma for 5 Crore and according to me that’s was the biggest mistake that CSK has done so far, Karn has not been consistent but he has been part of the squad of Mumbai and Hyderabad who won the tournament in 2017 and 2016 respectively, so he might be seen as a good luck charm for CSK.

CSK Squad on Day 1:

H.Singh- 2 Crore
Du Plessis- 1.6 Crore
K.Jadhav- 7.8 Crore
S.Watson- 4 Crore
DJ.Bravo- 6.4 Crore
A.Rayudu- 2.2 Crore
Imran Tahir- 1 Crore
Karn Sharma- 5 Crore

So far the players picked by CSK can do justice to their plans but it is still very hard to forget the loss of R.Ashwin and McCullum for the fans but CSK did make some recovery with a superb spin trio and also getting some of their core members back. With a lot of ups and downs on Day 1, the officials looked pretty relaxed to what they bought but the team looks a kind of bizzare and full of players who have not played International cricket for a while. So, it’s yet to be seen how they balance it out on Day 2. Also, CSK has picked 3 out of 8 overseas player which I predicted.
