Ind vs Sri, 1st T-20: Preview
After a comprehensive win in ODI series, New look India aims to take rusty Srilanka in a 3-match T-20 series, starting on 20th Decemeber at Cuttack followed by Indore and Mumbai on 22nd and 24th respectively. Both teams so far have not played up to their potential in T-20’s this year, though India won the series against Srilanka when they played them but won 1 and lost 1 to Australia at home, with winning last series against New Zealand. Whereas Srilanka lost to Pakistan 3-0 under Thisara Perera’s Capataincy but it was a depeleted team that played the series.
Talking about India, the team has gone a complete transformation due to players being rested for upcoming South Africa series, which starts on 5th January. India have 3 debutants Basil Thampi, Hooda and Sundar in the squad. Sundar whi made his debut in the ODI’s against Srilanka is likely to play instead o Kuldeep due to India’s lower order batting woes in T-20’s. Another player who can make his debut is Basil Thampi and also Unadkat might be included in the side instead of Siraj on the basis of experience, given the fact that Bhuvneshwar is not playing this series India need some one who can soak the pressure and he also has a added advantage of being a left-arm pacer, which adds variety to Indian pace attack. Rest of the team is expected to be same.
Rohit(C), KL.Rahul, Iyer, Dhoni(Wk), Karthik, Hardik, Sundar, Chahal, Bumrah, Unadkat, Thampi
Srilanka is a bit in Jeo-pardy after their ace pacer Malinga and Lakmal being rested by the selectors but good news for Srilanka is Pardeep and Kusal Perera is back in the side and the team looks well balanced but it lacks experience and contains many out of form players, which is a cause of worry for them.
