Ind vs Sri, 2nd ODI: Preview
After a Comprehensive win in the first match, the teams move to Kandy for the 2nd match. Their is not much to choose between the teams as India is the favourites again, with a heap of injuries Srilanka look too weak and might loose their way again. In the previous match Srilanka were not able to take even a single wicket and the only wicket that fell was of Rohit Sharma which was a run-out, Malinga and debutant Fernando looked very weak with the ball and the batting collapsed very badly which lead to their outser in the last match. On other hand Indian team played a good game on back of superb bowling from Axar and Bumrah with Chahal and Pandya being expensive but still bowling good and Bhuvneshwar was as always good with the ball and India bundled Srilanka for 216 and Chased down the total on the back of a superb Century by Shikhar and a well deserved 50 by Virat and also it was the best win in terms of balls remaining for India in ODI’s.
Though India played well but they need to address some issues as soon as possibl, one of the issue is running between the wickets and other being Chahal and Hardik being costly against a weak Srilankan side. A special mention to Kedar Jadhav who bowled superbly and fetch 2 wickets for 26 runs in 5 overs which actually turned the game for India and thus completing the remaining overs of the 5th bowler.
With regard to this match no changes are expected from India but a heap of changes can be their for Srilanka after poor performance of Thisara Perera, Sandakan and Hasranga.
Ground and Pitch :
India lasted played a ODI in Palekelle was way back in 2012 which India won by defending 294 runs and interestingly India had only played a single match at this venue before. But according to the history and groundsmen it is believed that it will be a balanced pitch for both bowlers and batsman, with total in excess of 300 have been chased here 18 times, it looks a perfect pitch for a limited overs fixture and also recently concluded Test here between Srilanka and India was also a high scoring game.
