Ind vs Sri, 1st Test: Review
India made a fine start to the series by beating Srilanka by a massive 304 runs which is the biggest defeat for Srilanka in terms of runs in Tests. Shikhar Dhawan awarded Man of the Match for his clinical 190 off 168 balls, also Ashwin was awarded a special momento for playing 50th Test and he is only 30th Indian player to acheive this feat. India outclassed Srilanka in all departments with Shami and Umesh striking early and Jadeja, Ashwin cleaning the tail. Also Virat scored his 17th Test ton with Mukund missing a well deserved hundred in the second innings, also Pujara made a healthy contribution in the first innings with the bat making 153 runs. Debutant Hardik Pandya got to his maiden 50 off 47 balls and took a wicket, Rahane also strucked 57 runs in the first innings, also Ashwin missed his half century. India was outstanding with the ball and dismissed two Srilankans in their 90’s in both the innings. Also, Srilanka was hit with two injuries Gunaratne their ace player is now out of the India series with a thumb injury and Rangana Hearth got injured on the 3rd Day of the match and didn’t came out to bat on 4th Day, with Chandimal expected to play the next test Srilanka would be happy to get their new captain back in side but also will be sweating out on fitness of Hearth and also KL Rahul has been declared fit but he have to wait for his chance as both the openers had performed in the match. Also India made their biggest total in Srilanka by reaching 600 in first innings. Overall it was the Indian batting which overshadowed Nuwan Pradeep’s 5 fer in the end.
