India begin their campaign with two warm-ups against New Zealand and Bangladesh before taking on arch-rivals Pakistan in Birmingham on June 4. It will be the first major ICC tournament for Virat Kohli as the captain of the Indian team and also it will be the first ICC tournament for Sarfraz Khan the captain of Pakistan team. It will be only the fourth occasion in the ICC Champions Trophy that these two teams will meet. Unlike other ICC tournaments Pakistan have a score line of 2-1 against there arch rivals and also India’s only win came against Pakistan was back in 2013 Champions Trophy.
India have a good top order and a experienced middle order with a good pace bowling attack and they have two of the best spinners and on other hand Pakistan lack experience in middle order and they also have issues regarding top order but have a decent pace attack and almost a settled spin department. Also Shoaib Malik will be playing his sixth Champions Trophy and Yuvraj Singh makes a comeback into Champions Trophy after a gap of almost 11 years. Both teams have a good blend of youth and experience. One of the most interesting clashes to watch will be Virat Kohli vs Mohammad Amir and also Junaid Khan will be looking to maintain his recording specially against Virat Kohli and on other hand Bhuvneshwar Kumar will look to get Hafeez out and rattle Pakistan and also Bumrah will be up against Pakistan for the first time in 50 over format and also MS.Dhoni will be looking for some scoring opportunites against the arch rivals.
All in all it will be a great game of cricket on Sunday june 4 at Edgbaston, Brimmingham.
