The Journey to the TOP
Since past 2 years many changes have took place in the Indian Team after Dhoni retired from the longest form of the game. The team have become more aggressive and expressive post his retirement. It was a sudden retirement after series lost Down Under. Kohli took over as a Full time Test Captain in the away series against Bangladesh and scored 14 runs in one-off test match which was eventually drawn. But his first win as a Captain came over Srilanka and India won a away series after 4 years. Then the Virat Kohli led side took the Proteas in a home series comprising of 4 Test matches after thrashing loss in both ODI’s and T20’s by the African team. Covincingly winning the series 4-0 against Proteas and jumping to number two in the ICC Test Rankings. A away series against the West Indies became the turning point which encouraged India to fight for the first spot, Kohli struck his first ever double hundred in the 1st Test and won the series to become the Top ranked side. But Pakistan replaced India as the top ranked side after few days but eventually India regained Top spot after 3-0 win over New Zealand in 3 match test home series. Currently Virat Kohli led Indian team is playing against England in a 5 test home series and already winning the series 3-0 and maintaining the Top position with a handfull amount of points difference over the second ranked England. With a long home season ahead Indian Team can produce some good results as well as maintain the Top position.
